Ivie Baker is also an avid hunter and enjoys the great outdoors. She's been enjoying the sport of hunting from a young age. She first started tagging along on duck hunts with her father at around 10 or 11 years old. It was shortly after that she got her first duck call as a Christmas present. She learned how to call duck in while her father took the shots.

At 14, she was given her first gun (a Marlin 30-30) for her birthday, just a month before deer season started in 1983. That was the year she started making visits to the U.P. the first week of every deer season. After many hunts of see just does, she got her first buck at the age of 19 on openning day, 1988. It was a spike shot at approximately 150 yards! On day two that same year, she took an eight point at approximately 50 yards!

Since then, she has made a point of never missing a hunt. She's taken several deer since then and took her last deer on November 19th, 2003 in northwestern Gladwin County.

She's a believer in quality wildlife conservation and has helped support organizations like Pheasents Forever and Ducks Unlimited with artwork donations. She is also very familiar with the land in both Gladwin and Clare Counites, (and some of lower Roscommon & Ogemaw County).
